Capture the essence of yesteryear when you stay at Tairoa Cottage. This old house was removed from its original site in the middle of Hawera in 2002, to its present site in the extensive grounds of Tairoa Lodge and faithfully renovated to provide boutique self-contained accommodation. Tairoa Cottage is very quiet and private set amongst established grounds and with an extensive lawn sweeping to the front of the house. A wrap-around verandah facing North and East provides shelter for alfresco dining. The original matai floors and rimu doors provide warmth to the interior. 'Understated classical elegance' describes the all-new furnishings and interior design.
The master bedroom is north facing with french doors opening onto the verandah to capture the morning sun. This room oozes romance for the perfect romantic hideaway.
A second bedroom has two king single beds with fine cotton linen and bedspreads and is ideal for extra adults or for families travelling.
The bathroom with original clawfoot bath and separate shower, toilet and rimu vanity is adorned with plenty of luxurious white towels and bathrobes. Toiletries including bubble bath are available for those wanting to soak in the tub. A second separate toilet is available along with disabled toilet facilities and ramp onto the verandah.
The designer kitchen boasts all that you will need to self-cater, along with a pantry filled with essential continental breakfast provisions. Accessories include the latest in design stainless steel fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, and cook-top.
Relax in the open plan sitting room / dining room area and listen to CD's on the new home theatre system, watch UHF Sky TV sport and movies, or catch up on a DVD. Curl up on one of the two leather lounge suites and read a magazine or book. For extra persons travelling, one of the lounge suites is a double sofa bed (with linen provided). The beech-dining suite seats 8 people.
For a special occasion ask about our Romance Packages or if you like the privacy of Tairoa Cottage but do not wish to self-cater, for a little extra you can stroll through the garden to the homestead and a full breakfast will be served to you in Tairoa Lodge's formal dining room.
