The Lodge

As a guest at our NZ luxury lodge, you have exclusive access to our 2,400 acre estate with over 10 kilometres of direct river frontage, may walk over the extensive rolling farmland and explore the amazing natural wonders of our private nature reserve.
Claremont Country Estate is one of Canterbury’s truly authentic heritage country homesteads offering luxury accommodation in New Zealand. It was built in 1866 from hand-cut limestone blocks quarried on the farm and is listed by the NZ Historic Places Trust.
It has been lovingly restored and modernised to provide the latest in amenities and the ultimate in comfort. This luxury lodge accommodation is furnished with antiques of the period to create the ambience and elegance of a gracious bygone era, resulting in the best of luxury accommodation.
The luxury lodge New Zealand accommodation is surrounded by acres of delightful, manicured flower gardens, fruit trees and landscaped grounds which include many of the original shrubs, hedges and enormous specimen trees. This provides a wonderful mature garden setting. Guests have the use of two extremely comfortable and gracious living rooms with warm open fireplaces, an extensive library, shady vine-clad verandas and sunny stone walled paved courtyards. Accommodation
Spacious and inviting, Claremont´s five lodge suites offering luxury accommodation are warmly furnished with antiques, rich fabrics and soft furnishings. Each suite has its own individual charm with country views over the lovely park-like gardens and farmland to spectacular mountains beyond.
Our luxurious bathrooms are beautifully tiled and have large demist mirrors with theatrical lighting, claw foot baths big enough for two, separate stall showers, heated towel rails and international shaver sockets. Thick towels, bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries are provided.
The luxury lodge suites feature superbly comfortable beds, feather duvets, classical cotton linen, modern and romantic mood lighting, full central heating, sophisticated stereo, direct dial phones and high speed internet access. Other touches include fresh flowers, fresh fruit bowl, as well as coffee and tea making facilities.
For those guests traveling with younger children we have an award winning, heritage style self-contained cottage with its own private garden, located within the grounds about 100m from the main building.
This three-bedroom, two-bathroom self-contained cottage has a fully equipped kitchen and laundry. It offers families independence and flexibility and is popular with couples with up to three children. Meals can be taken at the lodge, by arrangement, or guests may prefer to self-cater. Additionally, by prior arrangement, we can provide a baby sitter or child minder so adults are able to join other guests for pre-dinner drinks and convivial communal lodge dining.
