You will receive a very warm welcome at Muritai Manor Bed and Breakfast, a charming Edwardian villa with mature gardens overlooking Tasman Bay and the Nelson Haven with its unique Boulder Bank. Set in a semi-rural location, Muritai Manor Bed & Breakfast in Nelson is only a few minutes drive from the city centre, renowned for its arts and crafts, Saturday Market, buzzing café bars and excellent restaurants.
Built in 1903 for the local archdeacon, the house has been lovingly renovated in keeping with its original Edwardian style, retaining its high ceilings, native timber floors and fine kauri fireplaces. During the renovations Muritai Manor was also extended and modernised to provide 4 en-suite guest bedrooms in the main house and additional en-suite guest accommodation in our Garden Cottage.

The Garden Room (Super King or Twin)
The cottage in the garden has it's own private entrance through French doors, which lead into a bright, sunny room with en-suite shower and relaxing sitting area. This room looks out both onto the garden and the Nelson Haven. Outside is a large brick patio with table and seating. Being separate from the main house makes this an ideal room for honeymooners. Alternatively, an additional single bed is available to accommodate an extra guest.
Tasman Room (Super King or Twin)
A large sunny room with views on two sides, Tasman overlooks the Nelson Haven, Tasman Bay & the Western Ranges. The en-suite bathroom (with shower over the bath) has original polished timber floor & timber wall surround.
Rotoroa Room (King)
A light, spacious room with en-suite shower. It overlooks the garden, swimming pool and sundeck and has views on two sides looking out across the Nelson Haven, the Western Ranges and Wakapuaka Wildlife Reserve.
Brough Room (Queen)
One of our two smaller rooms, Brough is a bright restful room with an original coloured-glass panelled door to the en-suite shower room. Overlooking the garden, Nelson Haven can be seen through the trees.
Buxton Room (Queen)
Our other smaller room, Buxton has an en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath. It overlooks the swimming pool and sundeck, with views across the Nelson Haven and Wakapuaka Wildlife Reserve.
Breakfast is served in the Guest Dining Room and we use local produce where possible. Nelson’s markets are an excellent source of locally grown fruit and vegetables. As well as fruit juices, cereals, muesli, yoghurts, fresh and poached fruits, preserves, homemade bread, a selection of teas and speciality coffee, we also offer a cooked breakfast. The choice varies from day-to-day and includes traditional bacon, egg and tomatoes, bratwurst sausage, blueberry pancakes and orange French toast.
