Blanket Bay is situated just outside of Glenorchy, a small town at the northern head of Lake Wakatipu. Bordered on two sides by National Parks, the tiny village sits against a backdrop of rugged high country, beautiful mountains, glacier fed rivers and ancient beech forests. It is here that Peter Jackson chose to film the epic movie trilogy, Lord of the Rings.
Accommodation
Accommodation at Blanket Bay is provided in five intimate Lodge Rooms, three generous Lodge Suites in the main lodge, and four superb Chalet Suites all filled with sumptuous furnishings and elegant rugs. Natural materials are showcased throughout, echoing the Lodge's natural interaction with the environment. All rooms within the lodge are placed to take full advantage of the magnificent lake and mountain vistas.
Our five intimate lakeside Lodge Rooms feature their own balcony or terrace; king-size bed; armoire; and ensuite bathroom with granite-topped double vanities, separate shower and bath.
The three magnificent 700 sq ft Lodge Suites offer bedroom and sitting areas which have their own stone fireplace, spacious bathroom with steam shower and separate tub. Outside each suite has a 400 sq ft private terrace, with heart-stopping views of the lake and mountains.
Our Chalets reflect New Zealand colonial architecture and complement the main Lodge through the use of schist stone and timber beams. Each chalet comprises two 700 sq ft suites with open stone fireplaces and a central living room. The Chalet Suites may be combined with the living room to create The Richardson Staterooms.
All of our rooms are equipped with complimentary high speed internet connection, TVs and DVDs.
Our nightly room rates are for two people with carte blanche use of sports equipment and facilities as well as breakfast, pre-dinner cocktails and dinner. The self-service bar in the game room is open at any time at no extra charge.
Lodge Rooms
The lakeside Lodge Rooms each feature their own balcony or terrace, super-kingsize bed, sitting area and armoire. The ensuite bathrooms are lavishly appointed with granite topped double vanities, separate shower and bathtub.
These rooms are air-conditioned and with a choice of three music channels with high fidelity sound, they are all equipped with international direct dial telephones and complimentary high speed internet connection.
Lodge Suites
The three gracious 700 sq. ft Suites feature an additional 400 sq. ft private balcony, stone fireplaces, walk-in closets and capacious bathrooms with separate steam showers and bathtubs.
The Lodge Suites are air conditioned and have super kingsize beds. Each suite is equipped with international direct dial telephones and high speed internet connection.
Chalets
Our chalets reflect New Zealand colonial architecture and complement the main lodge with the use of schist stone and old steamer wharf timber beams. Each chalet enjoys stunning views down the length of Lake Wakatipu with the Richardson Mountain Range towering above.
The chalets contain two independent 700 sq. ft suites each with their own stone fireplace, large bathrooms, lake deck and private courtyards. The Chalet Suites are available individually or can be combined with an additional spacious living room to create the 1400 sq. ft Richardson Staterooms.
