Sugarloaf Lodge bed and breakfast accommodation in Matakana sits on a five-acre site surrounded by olives, silver birches, oaks, elms, magnolias and fruit trees. Sheep and cattle graze the nearby fields and plentiful birdlife, including pheasant, duck, tui, plover, kingfisher and heron can be seen and heard all around. Accommodation

Sugarloaf Lodge has two double bedroom suites in a detached building near the main house. Each bedroom suite has its own access and car parking, ensuite shower and toilet, TV, stereo, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities, and above all a wonderful, restful view for miles.

The outdoor seating areas are perfect places to relax. You can soak up the morning and evening sun, either across the valley to the coast or over the fields towards the setting sun.

Both bedrooms feature king-size beds and you'll enjoy blissful sleep with bed linen of the finest quality cotton. Single beds are also available for individuals sharing the room.

Breakfast

We serve a full cooked or continental breakfast between 8:30 am and 10:00 am in the main house, either on the deck or inside depending on weather conditions.

There's no better way to start your day than with locally sourced, homemade food. And if you'd prefer breakfast in your bedroom, you are most welcome to do so.

    The area's wine country has several acclaimed wineries, many with cafés and restaurants serving an excellent choice of snacks and full meals, accompanied by the vineyard's wines, or just a coffee. On a Saturday morning you must visit the Matakana Farmers Market, with its stalls selling local produce, and Country Park Market which has an eclectic mix of plants, produce, art and horse riding, and the enjoyable environment of RD6 Restaurant for morning coffee, a drink, lunch or dinner.

    Next to Country Park is the turning to Omaha and Tawharanui. Omaha Beach (pictured above) is a holiday resort with a wonderful two mile (three kilometre) white sand safe swimming beach with a surf club and public beach access, less than ten minutes beyond Matakana. At low tide you can walk to Tawharanui along the coast line towards the south.

    Tawharanui Regional Park lies at the end of the Takatu Peninsula with safe swimming, beach walks, holiday camp and signposted walks which take from 30 minutes to three hours.
