This intimate island-style hotel started its life as the small holiday cottage of designer David Scott, his dream of one day sharing this special place was realized with its perfectly executed transformation to what is now one of New Zealand best loved small hotels, still in the family, it is run by David’s son Jonathan, luxury hotel trained, bringing the creative attention to detail that really defines what a boutique “unique experience” hotel is all about.

The Lighthouse Stunning three storey retreat captures the romance of a traditional lighthouse. This is The Boatshed's unique hideaway suite with separate bedroom and dayroom. The whitewashed, timber lined bedroom sets a mood of romance - wake up to glimmering waters across the bay.
Climb the stairs to the top of The Lighthouse - a private haven. Glass doors open wide to sundecks and the huge panorama extending to the Hauraki Gulf and its myriad islands. Watch the sails of passing yachts.
Private dining services via a dumb waiter are also provided.
The Boatsheds A sophisticated mix of classic and contemporary design. The Boatshed suites are reminiscent of a bygone era, of seaside cottages and lazy days on the beach - designed to pamper.

The Bridge Elegantly appointed with a private traditional porch, the bridge sits on the other side of the property. Tucked away this superking suite looks over spectacular views of Oneroa and the Hauraki Gulf, with the boats bobbing away in the waters below, - the perfect place to while away an afternoon with a good book and a glass of wine.

Dining
Private, all day dining at The Boatshed is a must do. With excellent cuisine, fine New Zealand wines in a relaxed al fresco style. It could be joining the other house guests in the dining room for a memorable Mediterranean feast, a private seafood platter for two on the balcony, or some old fashion comfort food in front of the fire.
Dinner is a special occasion, and delicacies are sourced daily with a focus on fresh, organic produce, succulent seafood and gourmet meat cuts. Any dietary requirements, festivities and special occasions can be catered for.
Gourmet Picnic lunches can also be arranged for those days on the beach.
Dinning at The Boatshed is exclusive to the in-house guests so you have the complete attention of the Boatshed staff to make your experience both relaxing and enjoyable, nothing is too much trouble.
