The philosophy of the Bygone Era Bed & Breakfast is about taking time out of your hectic lifestyle, whether you're on holiday or business - sitting back, relaxing and enjoying a slower pace of life within the confines and elegance of a bygone era.

You'll be hosted in a home that was built around the beginning of the 1900's and which still retains many of its original architectural features. These include a pillared carved archway in the entrance hall bordered by pressed tin and wood wall panels, magnificent carved wooden mantelpieces and tiled surrounds, ornate pressed tin ceilings and cornices and chandeliers.

Affordable luxury and a touch of elegance are our forte. Bedding has been source with sumptuousness in mind. 1,000 thread count linen along with feather & down pillows and duvets will ease you into a peaceful night's slumber. Our attention to detail will ensure you feel like you're at home.

The house also doubles as a small art gallery and features collections from NZ artists, most of which are for sale. Often the art creates an interesting topic of discussion amongst guests and there's always something interesting and unusual on offer.

Accommodation
Bygone Era offers three private guest rooms to suit most tastes and budgets where a touch of luxury is mandatory. The rooms have been patiently and carefully renovated and restored to preserve the Victorian architectural features - from the ornate pressed tin ceilings to the carved mantelpieces and original tiled fire surrounds. The rooms offer elegant surroundings in which to take a break from your travels and drift off to a peaceful nights slumber.

Mattresses and bedding have been sourced with luxury and quality in mind and include 1,000 thread-count linen, electric blankets, luxury feather and down underlays, pillows and duvets and Egyptian cotton towelling.

All tariffs include a sumptuous cafe style breakfast unless you've selected a "room only" accommodation special. Breakfast is served in the dining room from 8:00 am to 9:30 am or in summer, you can request breakfast alfresco on the deck. If you have any special dietary requirements or would like your breakfast served at a different time or in your room, prior arrangements can be made. Your host has a passion for silver so be prepared for a formal table setting with some silver table service and fine antique china.

Check out time is 10:00 am, unless agreed otherwise by prior arrangement.

Bygone Era is not particularly suited for young children, smoking is not permitted on the property and pets are not allowed.
