With stunning 180 degree views over Lake Taupo, the largest lake in New Zealand, boutique lodge Tauhara Sunrise offers luxury yet casual lodge accommodation that's perfect for a New Zealand honeymoon or for anyone seeking luxury, boutique accommodation in New Zealand.

Rob & Becky's relaxed nature will make you feel like you're visiting friends. Complimentary pre-dinner drinks & hors d'oeuvres provide an opportunity for guests to get to know each other and share stories at the end of each day, guests may help themselves to complimentary beers, wines and soft drinks at any time, and Rob takes great joy in selecting music to suit a variety of tastes from his comprehensive collection. Rob & Becky have experienced virtually all activities the Taupo region has to offer and use this experience to help guests plan activities each day. Within a 2 hour radius of Taupo (which includes Rotorua, Waitomo Glowworm Caves, Tongariro National Park and the Hawkes Bay wine district) there are more unique and diverse sightseeing, adventure and cultural options than anywhere else in New Zealand.

The Lodge

Step inside this 5-star, award-winning lodge, and immediately feel at home. Staying here is like staying with friends and family, yet with all the amenities you expect, and some you don't: Complimentary beers, wines and soft drinks, complimentary pre-dinner drinks & hors d'oeuvres, complimentary high-speed internet service, and complimentary shuttle service to local restaurants.

Breakfast specialties include Ham & Parmesan Baked Eggs served on English Muffins, Buttermilk Waffles served with fresh fruits, homemade yoghurt and bacon, Becky's famous Huevos Rancheros (poached eggs in a mildly spicy Mexican tomato sauce), French Toast, and of course the KKB (Kiwi Klassic Breakfast): Bacon, sausages, garlic mushrooms, Vinaigrette-marinated tomatoes, plus eggs and toast. Home-baked breads, muffins and toasted muesli are also a specialty.

Suites
Our two suites and our luxurious new Chalet d'Amour - a romantic cottage for two - all feature magnificent lake views, epitomizing boutique accommodation in New Zealand.

Chalet d'Amour
:  is tucked in a quiet corner on the back of Tauhara Sunrise's grounds. The chalet offers every luxurious amenity imaginable, including king-sized bed with 1000 thread-count sheets and memory foam mattress, a huge double shower with dual rainshowers, double spa bath, gas fire, a fridge stocked with complimentary beers, wines and sodas, kitchenette with tea & coffee facilities, 32 inch TV, DVD player and Sky satellite television, top-of-the-line sound system, sumptuous leather sofa and fireside sheepskin rug, dimmer-controlled lighting, complimentary wireless internet access and a selection of games. It even has its own private patio, as well as private access, with parking right beside the cottage. And, Chalet d'Amour was built with the environment in mind. An insulated slab, double glazing throughout, and additional heavy duty insulation mean that the Chalet is incredibly thermally efficient. Plus, a solar panel delivers not only hot water, but underfloor heating in the bathroom.

White Cliffs  :  This disabled-accessible suite with oversized shower can be configured with either a king size bed, or two twin (single) beds. When configured as a king bed, we use a 2-inch memory foam mattress topper so that there is no feel whatsoever of the single beds plus you gain the added luxury and comfort. Many guests comment on the great night's sleep, aided also by the 1000 thread-count sheets. Some even arrive late for breakfast in the morning! The view is across the lake to the white pumice cliffs in the distance and mountains beyond. The suite features a 21-inch television with in-suite Sky satellite decoder for unrestricted channel access (including a wide selection of music channels), CD/MP3 stereo and DVD player with a broad selection of movies. In-suite complimentary Ethernet access and an in-suite, remote controlled heater/air conditioner are also provided.

Lake Taupo  :  This queen suite is our smallest, but offers magnificent views of the lake, as well as the lights of Taupo by night. Memory foam mattress topper and 1000 thread-count sheets ensure a great night's sleep. Ensuite features a shower, vanity unit crafted from native New Zealand timbers, and a wardrobe/dressing room. The suite features a 19-inch widescreen LCD TV with in-suite Sky satellite decoder for unrestricted channel access (including a wide selection of music channels), DVD player with a broad selection of movies, and iPod with speakers. In-suite complimentary Ethernet access and an in-suite, remote controlled heater/air conditioner are also provided.

Food
Breakfast and happy hour are daily events that all of our guests look forward to, and on Fridays and Saturdays or on special occasions, for guests who pre-book, an evening meal served with fine wines from New Zealand and Australia is also available. Please inquire at least 48 hours in advance if you are interested in dining at the lodge so that we can confirm availability and make appropriate arrangements.

The Lake Taupo region of New Zealand offers an abundance of things to do and as part of your stay at our luxury lodge accommodation here in Taupo we will gladly take care of all activity arrangements on your behalf. So if you're into fishing, adventure sports such as kayaking, rafting, bungy jumping, skydiving, skiing (water or snow), jet boating or mountain biking, or more leisurely pursuits such as hiking, bush walks, golf, wine-tasting, cruising on the lake, relaxing in a mineral pool or shopping, just let us know and we'll organise it for you.

Fishing  :  The Taupo fishery, in the heart of the North Island, has a worldwide reputation for offering a wide variety of superb angling water. Rainbow trout in Taupo have some characteristics common to steelhead in that they treat Lake Taupo - one of the largest and most pristine freshwater lakes in the Southern Hemisphere - like a sea. The average weight of trout caught varies from year to year, but is usually around 1.6kg (3.5lb). Fish weighing over 4kg (9lb) are not uncommon, and although the majority of these are brown trout, trophy rainbows are still caught.

Adventure  :  Tandem skydiving. Bungy-jumping. Gliding. Rafting. Kayaking. Sailing. 4-wheeling. Mountain biking. Mountain boarding. Abseiling. Caving. Rope & rock climbing. Jet boating. Parasailing. Skiing (water and snow). Horseback riding. Ballooning. Sailing. Blackwater rafting. The Taupo area offers all of these adventure activities, and more. Your hosts Rob and Becky have personally experienced most of these activities, and can help you make your decisions about which activities to enjoy. We'll even take care of bookings for you at your request.
