Since the late 1800’s, people have come from all over the world to experience the beauty of Lake Taupo, New Zealand and to stay at Wairakei Resort.

For over a hundred years our guests have enjoyed Wairakei Resorts style, comfort, beautiful scenery and the finest cuisine........today Bayview Wairakei Resort is the largest international 4-star resort in the central North Island. Situated on 169 acres, the Resort still has a wonderful historic feel but with all of today's fabulous comforts. Located just 10 minutes north of the Taupo township and surrounded by a fantastic variety of recreational and adventure activities, we are the ideal choice for your next holiday or conference.

Guests can soothe body and mind in one of our two large heated pools, in a massaging private spa or in our sauna. They can dine on the finest New Zealand cuisine in their choice of two restaurants and sip on award-winning wine or a nice cold beer at one of three bars.

As if having our own 9-hole course wasn’t enough, the resort neighbours the world-acclaimed Wairakei International Golf Course. Our rooms are exceptionally appointed, and room service is available around the clock. We have two flood-lit tennis courts, an on-site beauty therapy and massage centre, a fully-equipped gym and so much more to delight you.

Accommodation - There's an accommodation option and style for everyone's needs; from Queen and King Rooms to the Villas and Studios that are ideal for families and groups. The rooms have everything you need including free Box Office Movies.

Facilities - The Resort's fantastic facilities include two stunning outdoor heated swimming pools, six large spa pools, a fully equipped fitness centre with brand new exercise equipment, a squash court, sauna and a Day Spa. There are also two floodlit Astroturf tennis courts and a putting green to practise on before hitting the beautiful 9-hole Golf Course across the road.

Dining - The Pavilion Restaurant and Fairways Cafe delight every sense and the two bars - Geyser House Bar and the 19th Hole Bar offer a choice of setting to suit any social style.

Sustainability Policy

Eco Tidy policy  :  This policy gives our guests the option of having their room cleaned by using our eco tidy door hangers. This way we can reduce the use of chemicals and at the same time give the customer more freedom to choose. When cleaning the chemicals used are considered environmentally friendly products.

Door Hangers  :  100% Eco Friendly Door Hangers. The Door Hangers are printed on 100% Recycled, Post Consumer Waste, in a Process Chlorine Free process. The 'ecoStar' paper has been specifically designed with exceptional whiteness, superior bulk and opacity to make it ideal for high quality printing.

Organic Garden and Forrestry Block  :  We have recently planted an organic garden to produce vegetables not only for our own two restaurants but also for Lake Taupo Hospice. With 169 acres of land we want to ensure we utilise this in the best possible way. Our 50 acre planted forestry block is one way the resort is aiming to offset carbon emissions and invest in rehabilitation..

Waste Food and Cooking Oil  :  To ensure that the hotel's waste food and oil is taken care of, the food is donated to a local pig farmer and the cooking oil to BioDiesel New Zealand.

As big as Singapore, our fresh-water lake is actually a volcanic crater, the result of the most violent eruption the world has seen in the last 5,000 years. The lake (and the 47 rivers and streams that feed it) is home to abundant Rainbow and Brown trout, and scores of beautiful pumice-sand beaches can be found along its perimeter.

The opportunities for scenic relaxation, leisure and adventure are endless. Hire a kayak and set out to discover secluded bays and natural hot pools, or take your boat or kayak to the spectacular Maori rock carvings at Mine Bay.  Jet-skiing, tubing, fishing, water-skiing, boating…its all waiting here for you to enjoy a perfect day out at Lake Taupo. Swim in the sparkling clear waters and picnic on the shore as you gaze across the lake’s massive expanse of beauty.
