Based on the legend of the mythical “Island of Avalon” our luxury private cottages offer you the best of both worlds. Situated in a small valley, on a short stroll to shops, café’s and restaurants in Kerikeri town, Avalon is your perfect sanctuary surrounded by beautiful spring-fed streams, waterfalls, ponds and native plants and bush.
Cottages with character
Avalon offers 4 spacious, luxury self-contained cottages (breakfast on request) and a guesthouse (2 persons). The one-bedroom cottages can sleep up to 4 guests and have a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher and fridge. They also have a private bathroom with bath and shower.
The timber flooring, pine cladding and quality teakwood furniture with super king size beds add to the character of the cottage. They all have TV, a DVD player and internet broadband (or Wifi) access. Your private deck and garden with sun loungers overlook the valley, golf course and Puketotora River.
Mind and Body matters
Avalon resort is a place for well being. The peaceful setting will relax your mind and natural therapies like kinesiology and homeopathy are available on request.
A landscaped Property
Our big property (2.7 ha.) ensures you lots of space, privacy and safe off road parking.
Explore the hillsides of Avalon using our winding walking tracks. Discover the fruits of its orchard and the healing springs. Cross the small bridges and feed the white Avalon ducks, slowly floating through the early morning mist on the ponds.
The many birds and other small animals, the lush green environment and landscaped gardens make the perfect setting for a great relaxing stay.
The beautiful Puketotora river meanders through the resort, ideal for swimming, kayaking or fishing. Kayaks, fishing gear and mountain bikes are freely available.
The Personal touch
Although the cottages are self-contained, the owner/managers will be on site to assist and make your stay a truly magical experience. The office will provide services like printing and faxing, free information and service about the Bay of Island/ Northland area and booking facilities. A well-stocked library with books and DVD’s is available at no extra cost.

Accommodation
Luxury designer cottages : Our one bedroom cottages are designed to give you the comfort of your own home while enjoying your stay in kerikeri. Newly built, the cottages were specially designed and built to accommodate guests that want a superior holiday in a comfortable, quality cottage. Very private and self-catering but serviced daily to make your stay a relaxed experience. Suitable for tourists, business and corporate executives, couples and families.
The spacious lay-out (60 m2) and choice for natural materials make a healthy and open living space while the large glassed area's guarantee wide views and lots of sunlight. The special character of the cottages is emphasized by the hardwood flooring, comfortable teak furniture and contemporary décor.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, dishwasher and fridge. The private bathroom has a separate shower and bath.
From the deck you will have a beautiful view over the ponds of Avalon and the native bush in the valley, all the way to across the river to the golf course. The steps from the deck lead to your own garden with sun loungers and private parking at the back of your cottage.
In the lounge you can relax with your own TV/DVD and stereo, while the bedroom has an office desk with broadband internet access.
Although the lay-out is the same, you have a choice of 4 different types of cottages:
Cottage Earth : With a focus on the element "Earth", this cottage is beautifully decorated with warm, earthy colours. The stylish artwork, dark teakwood furniture and four-poster super kingsize bed add to the intimate character.
Cottage Water : Called The Blue Cottage, a touch of the ocean, soft blue colours and decorations with light timber flooring and teakwood furniture. Based on the "Water" element, refreshing and calming.
Cottage Fire : In the red cottage, flaming gumwood flooring and orange/red decor create a lively and funky setting. Sparkling and exiting, this place has a charming character of its own.
Cottage Air : The white or honeymoon cottage. Fresh, light colours and a little more seclusion give it a very private and romantic feel. Dream away on your four-poster super king bed.
