Albavilla is a small country retreat situated within the exclusive parkland setting of Martinborough Estate. The Estate is adjacent to the golf course, and a short stroll to the village. Nearby are many of the renowned vineyards that the Wairarapa region is famous for.
Guestrooms are individual in style, with country ambiance, stunning views to the surrounding hills, and spectacular sunsets are often to be seen to the west. All have en suites and every amenity, including air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities with refrigerator, robes, iron, hair dryer, LCD television, DVD/Video player, clock radio and broadband connection.
A sitting room in the main house with separate access via a walkway from the detached guestrooms is available for guest relaxation, gatherings and small meetings. Open fire in winter.
With a hospitality background of some 25 years, our mainspring and central interest is of course wine – befitting our unique location in Martinborough. Our award-winning cellar (previously Champerelle and Aylstone) offers vintages of the region and around the world – from first growths to country classics.
Characterised by French Provincial architecture and eclectic furnishings, Abavilla has no pretensions of being a grand house, but promises genuine country-house hospitality that only a private home with owners in residence can offer.

Be it a lost weekend, or a longer, more indulgent stay, our guests are encouraged to set their own schedule (or not set one at all) and unwind in the countryside. We hope you will find Albavilla a haven of relaxation and good living.
Cuisine
Meals at Albavilla consist of uncomplicated dishes, using the very best of New Zealand's produce. Expect an international style, mostly French or Italian, sometimes with an Asian slant, but never mixed.
Breakfast is leisurely and served in the dining room - consists of a buffet of juices, fruit, cereals etc, and to facilitate service, guests are asked to select a cooked dish from a menu the night before. (Anything is possible, providing we have the ingredients on hand!)
Should guests wish to breakfast in their room, a "bedroom picnic" will be delivered.
Dinner - amuse bouche and four set courses, but recognising that sometimes traveler's desires are more simple, by prior arrangement we can be flexible and tailor a meal to suit.
We specialise in matching food with wine - at Albavilla every meal is a celebration!
Spa Cuisine, Vegetarian and Special Dietary Requirements are by prior arrangement. Extra care is taken to prepare dishes to suit.
