Vista del Sol is a 15 acre property set on thirty thousand year old sand dunes enjoying 360 degree views of an unspoiled panorama 1 km back from the beach. The property faces west to the Coast over wetland bush valleys and ancient sand dunes and magnificent sunsets, South-West to Kapiti Island, North over rolling farmland and North-East to the Tararua Mountain Ranges.

Accommodation
All suites are spacious, extremely comfortable and decorated to a luxurious standard, with superb king size beds, an armchair together with table and chairs.
The Tararua Suite
The Tararua suite enjoys the morning sun and superb views North and East into the Tararua Range.
It is a spacious suite fitted out with one of the most luxurous king beds available in New Zealand, a comfortable arm chair, touch lamps, table and chairs, a triple wardrobe together with mirrors, finished with art work and flowers.
The Tararua suite has a large en-suite which is fully tiled and fitted with underfloor heating, heated mirror, heated towel rails, hairdryer, clothing hooks, vanity, glassed shower, separate bath, toilet and stool. For your comfort you have spa robes, large fluffy towels, facecloths, together with bath salts, bathroom soaps, shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
The Kapiti Suite
This suite captures the afternoon sun and picturesque views south and west toward Kapiti Island and over the bush wetlands and hills to the Coast.
The beautifully finished suite is comfortable and spacious. It is fitted out with one of the most luxurous king beds available in New Zealand, a comfortable arm chair, touch lamps, table and chairs, a triple wardrobe together with mirrors, finished with art work and flowers.

The Derham Suite
A spacious suite with wheelchair access on the ground that collects the afternoon sun and lovely views to the south and west toward Kapiti and over the bush wetlands and hills to the Coast. It is furnished with a Futon king size bed, a comfortable arm chair, touch lamps, table and chairs, a separate wardrobe, finished with art work and flowers.
The Derham suite has a full care en-suite with handrails and wheelchair access to basin, shower and toilet. It is fully tiled and fitted with underfloor heating, heated mirror, heated towel rails, hairdryer, clothing hooks, vanity, glassed shower, separate bath, toilet and stool. For your comfort you have spa robes, large fluffy towels, facecloths, together with bathroom soaps, shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
Facilities
Island Spa : We provide huge spa towels and soft spa robes for you to enjoy your visit to the Island Spa, soak and relax in the luxurious indoor spa set in its own room with a separate ensuite only 20 meters from the main house.
For those who wish for more pampering, separate bookings can be arranged to visit our beauty and spa therapist and hairdresser.
Guest Lounge : Feel free to relax in the spacious lounge, with surround sound, Sky TV, DVD Films, music and a kitchenette for complimentary hot and cold drinks.
Mike's Bar and Lounge : Meet others at Mike’s Bar on the ground floor in the garden, or relax with television or films, a selection of wines and beer are available, or order one of Lynette’s famous tropical Fruit Cocktails or Smoothies.
Television, Films, Library, Film Theatre : Television and films/DVDs with surround sound may be viewed in the Guest Lounge, or Mike’s Bar & Lounge.
Inquire about use of the surround sound Film Theatre room or enjoy the extensive library by arrangement.
Access and Disabilities : You may use the stairs or lift access to the upper floor and mobility ramps into Vista del Sol. For the disabled the Derham suite has a full care ensuite with handrails and wheelchair access to basin, shower and toilet.
Pets : No pets indoors but feel free to visit Satin the Timor pony, a miniature horse with a great attitude, or Echo, her bigger pony friend.
Meals
Enjoy a hearty country breakfast, either sitting in the sun at the breakfast bar looking into the garden as part of Lynette’s huge designer kitchen, or in the 14 seat dining room, or in the garden on a pleasant morning.
A full Continental and cooked Breakfast is included in your stay at Vista del Sol and includes waking up to the scent of freshly baked home made bread, with varieties such as full grain, aniseed, date and orange, or raisin loaf with a selection of jams, honey, cheese and spreads.
A selection of Cereal, Fruit, Yoghurt with Cream or milk and soy milk for special dietary needs together with milo, coffee, tea, or hot chocolate or Fruit juice
Your cooked breakfast includes eggs of your choice; fried, boiled, poached, scrambled with a portion of bacon, choose from a selection of pork or beef sausages or traditional boerewors sausage made from Lynette’s South African recipe, together with fried mushrooms and fried or fresh tomato
Alternatively Order (at a small additional cost) a Special Breakfast which is the above continental breakfast and instead of the cooked breakfast choose between;
• Pancakes or French Toast.
• A stack of hot pancakes or french toast. Served with bacon, maple syrup and banana or when in season fresh strawberries with cream.
• Omelette with a choice of fillings - Cheese, tomatoes, fresh or fried onions, fresh or fried mushrooms, green pepper and bacon.
• The "Big Day" Mixed Grill - Sausage, Bacon and Minute steak with eggs cooked to your choice together with fried mushrooms and fried or fresh tomato.
Evening meals are available by prior arrangement to join Mike and Lynette with guests for dinner or, on occasions, a full four course dinner. Lynette’s dinner menus are varied and can include entrees of soups or seafood, to mains such as hearty roasts or stews in Winter or lighter fare in Summer followed by dessert.
Examples of Evening meals for the Winter could include;
• Beef stroganoff served with pasta and vegetables
• Satay fried beef and vegetables served on rice
• Sweet and sour stir fried chicken and vegetables served on rice
• Rich Beef Casserole with subtle spices and whole vegetables served on rice
• Baked Apricot Chicken served on rice and with vegetables
• Mild Curry Beef with flavoursome spices and rice served with salad
An example four course dinner could include an entrée of Cream of Cauliflower soup, starter of Prawns with light Chilly Mayonnaise, example of mains are Baked Apricot Chicken, Scotch or Beef Fillet with either green peppercorn brandy or mushroom sauce, or, authentic South African Sosatie with Pap (beef rump steak marinated for days, cooked lightly seared, served with Sosati sauce and maize meal – similar to polenta), or, Bobotie - baked fruit flavoured lightly curried mince covered with buttermilk served on bed of saffron raison rice, and followed by desserts such as Lynette’s famous Chocolate Brandy Cake, Lemon Tart, or Peppermint Cream.
These treats originate from Lynette’s South African heritage (originally Dutch, French and German), with delicious entrees and mains to ask seconds for, and the desserts making you wonder whether you should dare – with Mike adding a kiwi touch with seafood and the BQ. A selection of wines from the cellar are available.
