The Experience Take your time over breakfast...
• A generous ‘Taste of Hawke's Bay’ breakfast provisions for each morning which includes freshly baked breads or pastries, organic muesli, local cheese & smoked chorizo, fruity yoghurt, seasonal fruit platter and a selection of condiments. Please send us advice prior to arriving should you have special dietary needs.
• A bottle of local Hawkes Bay wine (one per stay).
• The cottage is serviced on a daily basis (or as requested if you wish to be left alone).
• Full kitchen facilities with cooking utensils are available in the self contained cottage should you wish to cook your own meals. There is no oven but instead a microwave, 4 burner gas hob and outside BBQ are provided for your gourmet creations.
• Flax Cottage has 1 separate bedroom which sleeps a maximum of 2 Adults in with a luxurious King Size bed fitted with a superior mattress, choice of pillows, luxurious linen and bedspreads. The cottage is not suitable for children but if you have a young baby, arrangements can be made for a portable cot.

We welcome your dog...
You are welcome to bring along your much loved dog to share the weekend. We are completely dog friendly and will even provide a large comfortable kennel on the deck with its own drinking bowl. Just bring your dogs’ sleeping mat and some food, we will provide the rest.
There are many local dog friendly pathway walks or a lovely stroll in the reserve behind the cottage and Bay View beach is just a few minutes’ drive away for exercising.

Whether it’s a special occasion, romantic escape or just to escape from life in the fast lane Flax Cottage offers an informal feel of luxury with a welcoming atmosphere and complete privacy for true relaxation. French doors open out to an expansive front deck which overlooks the neighbouring vineyards, fruit orchards and Napier’s pristine coastline. By night you will see fabulous panoramic views towards the sparkling lights of Napier City and by day an unrivalled view of Cape Kidnappers. Watch the ships roll into the Port of Napier over breakfast or escape to the back deck to enjoy the sunset while sipping a glass of Esk Valley Estate Wine which is processed right next door.
The 1 bedroom cottage has been built by a locally owned company Easybach using Redwood and designed with a unique bach kiwi feel on the exterior and absolute comfort with a touch of luxury inside. An open lounge, dining and fully equipped kitchen is available. The cottage is tastefully decorated with quality furnishings and local artwork. Luxurious Egyptian cotton bed linen are all part of the ‘relaxation’ experience. No luxury getaway accommodation can be perfect unless you have really big fluffy 100% Egyptian cotton towels and waffle cotton bath robes to wrap yourself up in.
Breakfast at 11am is perfectly acceptable at Flax Cottage! Take your time to indulge in generous gourmet 'taste of Hawke's Bay' style breakfast provisions after a long lazy sleep in.
The cottage has a separate entry and complete privacy to unwind away from everyone.
The choice is yours - you can do as little or as much as you wish.
The main villa has a library of books to choose from if you are tempted to spend the whole day reading on the deck.
Your Hosts ...
Mike & Wendy Fisher have been involved in Tourism & Hospitality for most of their working lives. Mike started out his career as a pilot for Air Central here in Hawke’s Bay then the decision to travel overseas to see the world started a new career driving luxury coach tours around Ireland, Europe and New Zealand which lasted over 20 years.
Wendy started her career in various hotels in New Zealand and England then returned home to pursue a career in marine tourism. After living in Fiji and the Whitsundays, home was calling and so the decision to settle in beautiful Hawke’s Bay was made. A full time renovation job on a villa with 2 acres filled in the first year. ‘Flax Cottage’ was built after a longing to continue being a part of the hospitality and tourism industry.
