About Us
Your hosts are Lynn Fiebig and Richard Chittock. Lynn has owned and operated an outstanding award winning eponymous Wellington NZ restaurant. Rich has a vast knowledge of the local folklore, geography, sights and attractions and is happy to personally guide you.
We pride ourselves on our superb selection, preparation and presentation of local and New Zealand cuisine, wine, music and art.
To compliment our luxury accommodation at AHURU Lodge we grow our own organic herbs and vegetables. We recycle all our waste, our building is environmentally friendly and we invite guests to plant a tree for carbon credits in energy used getting to our place. Our tranquil native garden is home to abundant birdlife.
If you can drag yourself away from the serene and beautiful atmosphere of AHURU some of the activities near Ohakune include trout fishing, snow skiing, clay bird shooting, golf, therapeutic massage and relaxation treatments, pristine walking and trekking, local working farm tours, canoeing, cycling, horse trekking to name just a few.

Each of our five luxury guest accommodation suites has a luxurious king sized bed with 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton bed linen, goose down pillows, fully equipped pantry and mini bar facilities, double ended soak bathtub, shower, heated tiles, lounging area and a sunny private deck enjoying breathtaking views to Mt Ruapehu and private direct access to the river.
The many features of AHURU Lodge facilities include New Zealand cedar sauna room, mineral spa tub with sublime river and mountain views, loggia and gallery room – both with open fireplaces, library snug with open fire, river swimming, disabled access.

Food & Wine
Luxury holidays at Ahuru Lodge in Ruapehu District include an array of dining experiences to suit your mood and appetite. Private or convivial, inside or outside, alongside a roaring fire, retreat to the river for a delicious picnic - the possibilities are many – you tell us how you prefer to dine.
As the day breaks – wake up to the delicious aroma of freshly brewed coffee, baked croissants and breads. Ahuru made jams and preserves are served with fresh organic vegetable juice followed by a hearty farm style cooked breakfast if you desire.
Lunch – is available at the Lodge or if you wish we will pack you a scrumptious picnic to take along on your days adventures.
As the sun goes down you may crave a romantic dinner for two, perhaps you are feeling convivial and decide to share a fishing story and a social meal with fellow guests. The choice is yours.
Aperitifs and canapés are served every night at AHURU. Depending on the season it maybe al fresco down by the river, in front of the many roaring fires or on one of the decks taking in the stunning big sky sunsets.
Lynn’s cuisine and style are influenced by local flavours, produce and the changing seasons. The beauty, simplicity and taste of her food showcases the best New Zealand has to offer.
