Built in 1909, Beluga has been tastefully refurbished to offer all the contemporary aspects of a boutique hotel. Our accommodation includes stylish Lodge Rooms, the secluded luxury of the Garden Suite, or independence in Minke Cottage holiday house.
Beluga is in a great location, just 5 minutes walk to the shops, cafes and restaurants in the heart of Methven and only 30 minutes drive to Mt Hutt skifield.
There is a wealth of activities right on our doorstep, including two highly acclaimed golf courses, skifields, heliskiing, jet boating, fishing, sky diving, mountain biking, walking, hot air ballooning and many more.

Accommodation - Lodge Rooms
Relax in one of our beautiful Luxury Lodge Rooms. Beluga has 6 superbly appointed rooms offering stylish, comfortable accommodation, all with ensuite bathrooms, high thread count linen and NZ Fairydown blankets. The rooms reflect the style of the historic villa but with all the contemporary aspects of a boutique hotel.

Accommodation - Garden Suite
Indulge yourself in the secluded luxury of our Garden Suite, set in an acre of mature gardens and providing a more private experience. Slightly larger than the other rooms, with a kitchenette for those not wanting to eat out every evening. Enjoy a glass of wine on your private patio or join the other guests in the Lodge lounge.

Accommodation - Minke Cottage
Minke Cottage is a beautifully restored traditional kiwi cottage set in mature gardens. This holiday house offers comfortable, well appointed self-contained accommodation for up to 9 people. The cottage has 4 bedrooms which can be set up with double or single beds. There are two bathrooms and a large open plan living/dining/kitchen area with open fire, flat screen tv and cable (free sport and movies). The big dining table seats 9 people comfortably.
Outside there is a private garden to the front and a shared (with Beluga) garden to the back. The cottage is toasty warm in winter and cool in summer.
Minke is perfect for groups of friends or families wanting the more independent holiday.

Beluga and the Environment
Our long term aim is to make Beluga as sustainable and footprint-free as possible.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: We have seriously reduced the amount of waste we generate here at Beluga. We have a recycling programme which includes all plastics, tin cans, cardboard, paper and glass. Any old phones, paint or equipment we either recycle if we can or dispose of responsibly.
Keep it Local: Whenever possible and practical we use local products, both in order to support our local community and to cut down on the travel distances and costs. We source the majority of our food locally (and where possible organically), only use locally made all-natural bathroom products and of course sell locally made NZ wines and beers.
Energy Efficiency: Beluga is fully insulated and double glazed which cuts down on unnecessary electricity consumption. We are in the process of replacing blown bulbs with energy efficient ones so we foresee that within a year we will only have energy efficient lighting. Our outdoor and garden lights are either on sensors or timers to ensure that they do not remain on unnecessarily during daylight hours. In the future we hope to incorporate alternative natural heating sources into the properties.
The Great Outdoors: We are lucky at Beluga to have a wonderful mature garden which is giving back to the environment as well as providing enjoyment for our guests. This year we have created a worm farm to recycle all of our food waste and some general waste – the fertilizer created by the worm farm goes straight back into the garden. We have also invested in a water collection system to ensure that our garden can stay green and beautiful all year round without putting additional pressure on the local water supply.
Keep it Clean: At Beluga, we use the ENJO product range of cleaners which are almost entirely chemical free. This enables us to reduce chemicals in the air and those entering into our local sewage system. ENJO has ISO & HACCP accreditation & has been accepted onto the Sensitive Choice Programme by the Asthma & Respiratory Foundation of New Zealand for asthma & allergy sufferers.
