The Ambers Bed & Breakfast is located in a peaceful valley just 1 km from the Silverdale exit of the northern motorway and only 35 minutes from Auckland.

A luxury three story Georgian-style manor house, set on 14 acres of beautiful park-like grounds at the end of a long tree lined drive with an olive grove and orchard on one side and a stand of oak trees on the other.

Come and enjoy the Old World charm and luxury of The Ambers Bed & Breakfast accommodation, set on 14 park-like acres near Silverdale, Auckland. Share our peaceful country atmosphere and warm hospitality. We offer elegant country accommodation inclusive of full cooked breakfast. We have four charming rooms, with en-suites, for overnight and longer stays. Although we no longer make our grounds and facilities available for weddings, we do provide accommodation for people who attend weddings elsewhere.

Enjoy our very elegant 1st floor European style rooms with wonderfully comfortable beds and finest bed linen, our romantic French Toile Attic Suite with sloping ceilings or our Greek Santorini Room. The two attic suites with shared bathroom and antique claw footed bath make an ideal family area.

A delicious country style breakfast is served in our formal dining room with fine linen and silver tableware or on the terrace overlooking the garden and native bush.

In the evening relax with pre-dinner drinks in our elegant lounge or with a coffee and vintage port after enjoying dinner out at one of our local seaside restaurants.

We will cook a New Zealand-style barbeque for groups of 6-8 guests on our terrace in summer by prior arrangement. In winter bring some friends for a weekend retreat and enjoy a French-style dinner in our intimate dining room.  Relax before and after by a roaring fire in our guest lounge with BYO wine.

Dinner prices will vary dependent on produce and number of courses desired.

Of a misty morning at the Ambers bed & Breakfast

There are beautiful beaches, scenic walks, golf courses and horse riding nearby as well as other activities such as a new snow dome & go cart racing or enjoy our local village of Silverdale with its historic village and Saturday markets.

Spend a night or two unwinding when you first arrive before heading to sunny Northland one of New Zealand's major tourist destinations. Or on your return trip south to other destinations such as the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula and Rotorua with its bubbling mud pools, geysers and focus on Maori culture.

Alternatively have a relaxing rest day at The Ambers before leaving New Zealand instead of staying in the city or at the airport.

We are also a great stay for Aucklanders looking for a relaxing romantic weekend away in the country while still being close to the city.

The Regency room
This very elegant English style room is situated on the 1st floor with lovely views of our fountain and driveway, particularly beautiful in autumn when our Liquid Ambers turn brilliant colours of red and gold.

It has a queen sized bed with finest bed linen. We have had many guests comment on the comfort of this bed. The en-suite has a large shower.

Views out over the front lawns are particularly beautiful in Autumn when the Liquid Ambers put on their show.

The Blue Room
The exquisite Blue Room has a king sized bed and has beautiful views out over the back garden down to native bush.

In the blue room you wake up to the sound of birdsong and watch the sunset in the evening. The Blue Room en-suite is large and has both a shower and bath.

Toile de Jouey Suite
The delightful French Toile attic room is very romantic and private. It has lovely views from the casement window out over our front paddocks and tree-lined driveway. It is our largest suite which includes a couch, desk and coffee and tea making facilities. This is a very relaxing suite to stay in for a honeymoon night or a special weekend away.

Settle in with tea or coffee in your room before joining us for a pre dinner drink in our guest lounge or on the terrace in summer.

The attic bathroom has a wonderful antique claw foot bath as well as shower. Pamper yourself with aromatic bath oils & luxury towels.

The Santorini Room
The Greek Santorini Room is in the Eastern end of the attic. It consists of a bedroom with super king bed (which can also be split into two singles) plus a small ante-room with divan bed and writing table.

Along with the Toile de Jouey Suite, also in the attic, the Santorini Room makes a very comfortable family unit with shared bathroom. Children love the attic with its sloping ceilings & casement windows.

Whilst Santorini is the smallest bedroom on offer it is also the cosiest. Tucked away in a corner of the attic it offers pretty views to the front and the back of the property.
