We are delighted to share with you our beautiful cottage nestled on the shorefront of one of New Zealand’s most beautiful, pure, and un-spoilt lakes.

Hermione Cottage provides the perfect setting for couples, families and groups.

Our charming & classic style cottage has been renovated to provide you with all the creature comforts to make your stay an unforgettable experience, and one you’ll be longing to repeat!

Couples looking for a private & romantic weekend away, or families looking for an action- packed adventure at Lake Tarawera... Hermione Cottage is the ultimate destination.

Stunning lake front views from all bedrooms, quiet boat ramp just a few metres from the gate, and a pretty private garden ...... alfresco dining in summer and cosy winter weekends in front of a roaring fire!

Accommodation

The third cottage down the lane that is Bay View Road, right on the lake’s edge , Hermione Cottage was built by Lockwood for Hermione and her family in 1959.

Situated on a beautifully developed level section, and adjoining a boat ramp, Hermione Cottage is fully furnished and fitted with all the modern comforts to ensure a restful and comfortable holiday.

The Cottage comprises 2 large double bedrooms with stunning views over the lake, and a sleeping capacity of 6. Every effort has been made to ensure absolute comfort from quality beds, linen, furnishings and utensils.

A Sleep-out with an additional two single beds is nestled in the garden a few paces from the cottage, for older children or couples. Tenting over the summer months is permitted on request.

Over the winter months cuddle up beside the wood burner with a bottle of wine,and a great read or wonderful music.We have a well stocked wood shed ,and oil-filled heaters besides.

Come summer, the large outdoor decking and BBQ facilities make Hermione Cottage the perfect family retreat or romantic getaway.

Hermione Cottage is...

Our Lakeside cottage is available all year around for short and longer vacations.

We openly invite our international visitors to come and experience the magic of Lake Tarawera staying at Hermione, as well as providing Kiwi families and couples the ultimate kiwi getaway destination.

Hermione Cottage sleeps a maximum of 8 persons; rates are charged for the whole cottage and are not on a per person basis.

Extra persons can be accommodated by arrangement and will be charged accordingly.

We have a policy of two nights minimum most of the year apart from public holidays (including Easter weekend).

Min stays - 2 nights (normal)
Min stay Public holiday weekend - 3 nights
Min stay Easter weekend - 4 nights

$200/ night ($1200/ week, 7th night free).

	This deep, clear lake of excellent water quality year round, offers opportunity for swimming, (hot or cold) , skiing, kayaking and sailing , besides fishing for some very smart trout! This breathtaking lake is bordered on its eastern end by Mount Tarawera, and every aspect of the lake and its shores has much beauty and many special features to discover. Many walks are available, leisurely, or more challenging, and photographers and artists find infinite inspiration around its shores. Just outside Rotorua, this deep clear lake is renowned for the size, condition and rapid growth of the Rainbow trout it produces. Its reputation draws anglers from around the world in search of trophy fish, many in excess of 4kg (9 lbs) are taken. The lake is open to both fly. fishing and trolling, with lead core or wire lines, from October 1 to June 30, except for the 'Outlet' which closes on May 31 in order to protect spawning fish. The river upstream from the footbridge, is now a totally closed spawning reserve.
